3D Digital Paintings
We are of the opinion that every surface is a potential canvas, and that every story can be expressed visually. Here you’ll find some examples of our 3D Floor and Wall decals. To this effect, We Talk Chalk can generate custom, transformative art for any space—from walls and ceilings to trucks and buildings. And, regardless of whether your organization seeks decoration, advertisement, or clean fun, we offer completely noninvasive ways to improve 'dead space' in just a few hours.
When creating 3D street paintings, we love the ability to begin them in our studio on canvas and install the canvas at the event location. This allows for posing directly on the painting and for almost immediate interaction as installation takes between 1 to 3 hours vs. several days to create a painting live on site. We merge the canvas with the background, if the design and surface permits.
Live Painting & Murals
Live Painting is so much fun! How often are you able to see an artists create an image from start to finish? We can perform live, on location directly on your surface (asphalt or cement) or on canvas, which adds an unforgettable interactive experience for your audience over several days. It takes your event from engaging to experiential. As with our street paintings, our live paintings can be as temporary or permanent as you would like. Interior or exterior.
Hand Painted Signs
Nothing compares to the tactile character of hand painted chalkboards and signs to let people know who you are and what you are all about. We’ve been creating hand painted logos and font based murals for clients since our inception and know the value of presenting your brand with creative precision. Whether it is at a trade show, step, and repeat, movie premier, or city gateway, We Talk Chalk will bring the photo opportunity you are looking for.
Melanie is also a strong supporter of Arts in Education and Therapy. She has lead workshops and residencies in Italian Street Painting, 3D Street Art and Oil Painting around the world and she developed a Collaborative Teaching Residency for a high school in South Central Los Angeles. Melanie started the We Talk Chalk Academy, through which she offers students of all ages the opportunity to learn this 500 year old Italian tradition.
A Graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Melanie Stimmell Van Latum has had quite the career. Though you wouldn’t guess it by viewing her amazing 3D and Renaissance style street paintings, Melanie has the incredible cool factor of spending 8 years working on the iconic series South Park!
Starting out as a Lead Technical Director on the feature film, ‘South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut’, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone then asked her to join the very popular Comedy Central series where she oversaw the transition from infamous paper cutouts to flawless digital animations.
Melanie quickly became a leader in the Street Painting world – a ‘maestra madonnara’ (master street painter) – the only woman ever to hold this prestigious title in two countries (Italy and Germany). During her 20 years as a street painter extraordinaire, she has been awarded Gold medals and 1st place awards in Europe’s most prestigious competitions to become one of the worlds most decorated street painters. She has worked with clients in Turkey, Holland, UK, France, Canada, Colombia, Israel, The Republic of Georgia, Thailand, China, Saudi Arabia, The Dutch Antilles, and throughout the US and has consulted, painted, and held workshops for chalk painting events all over the world.
